ADHD Diagnostic Assessments

Clarity. Understanding. A way forward.

At The Knightsbridge Practice, we offer comprehensive ADHD assessments for individuals across the lifespan - from young children and adolescents to adults navigating life, work, and relationships.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, focus, impulsivity, and emotional regulation. It can present differently in children than in adults, and may be missed entirely - especially in those who internalise their struggles. An accurate diagnosis can offer not only clarity, but a sense of validation and direction.

Our assessments are designed to be thorough, evidence-based, and sensitive to each person’s unique context and experience.

What happens in an ADHD assessment?

1. Initial Contact

The process begins with an enquiry. Whether you're a parent concerned about your child, or an adult questioning long-standing difficulties, you’re welcome to reach out. We’ll talk through your concerns and determine if an ADHD assessment is the appropriate next step. If so, we’ll schedule an appointment and explain the process in full.

2. Pre-Assessment Questionnaires

Ahead of the assessment, structured questionnaires are provided to gather background information and help identify how symptoms may be impacting daily life. For children and adolescents, we also gather input from parents, caregivers, and sometimes teachers. For adults, we may ask for reflections from someone who knew you in childhood, where possible, to assist with developmental history.

Please ensure questionnaires are returned at least 48 hours before your assessment.

3. Clinical Interview

A 90-minute clinical interview is conducted in person or via video. This conversation explores developmental history, lived experiences, and current difficulties across home, school, work, and relationships. The aim is to form a full picture - not just of symptoms, but of strengths, resilience, and context.

4. Symptom Evaluation

Your symptoms will be assessed against established diagnostic criteria using validated assessment tools and observational insights. Our process is rooted in clinical best practice, taking care to distinguish ADHD from other overlapping presentations such as anxiety, low mood, or trauma responses.

5. Report & Feedback

You’ll receive a detailed report outlining the assessment findings and, where applicable, a formal diagnosis. The report includes tailored recommendations for support, including strategies for home or school, therapeutic input, educational or workplace adjustments, and signposting to further services.

If a diagnosis is given, we also provide a supporting letter which can be shared with employers, educators, or other relevant professionals.

Please note: While our clinicians can provide diagnostic assessments and therapeutic recommendations, medication must be prescribed by a psychiatrist. If appropriate, we will support you with a referral or guidance on next steps for medical treatment.

If you're ready to explore whether ADHD may be affecting you or someone in your care, we’re here to help - with professionalism, care, and clarity.
